When I was a teenager my father had some cane like this, and the search for it led me to all these other varieties. This cane may be of the family of an older variety known as Home Green. It makes a large, long barrel, is very soft, full of sweet juice, and it makes an excellent syrup. However, it does have prickles under the base of the leaves which will stick you just like cactus. It comes back from stubble only fairly well. |
